The following are policies we have had to implement due to customer
abuse of our friendly and honest service since we opened for
business in 2005.

BRH pre charges for
all orders for the merchandise only at the time of order. Then
shipping, handling and any surcharges from the wholesalers and
manufacturers will be added in a second charge when the order(s) are
ready to ship.

lowest price at the time you order an item. Products are subject to availability
and are usually shipped to you in 2 to 3 business days (sometimes longer
depending upon time of year such as the Christmas Holidays or weather
related issues) from when your order

otherwise noted on order status page, email or phone call you may receive) most times orders are shipped within

to 3 business days and within 1 business

likes "out of stock" situations or
incorrect information on our website. We do our best to prevent these situations
with 4 major wholesalers located around the USA. Also, where applicable, we
work directly with manufacturers to offer the lowest possible prices!
To assume that any dealer
or hobby store carries everything in stock at all times would not be a realistic expectation.
We do have a rather large inventory of items to support our customer's needs but
it is very important that you understand, to keep our prices as low as possible
we have adopted a completely different business model than our competitors.
Blue Ridge Hobbies™
has a large buying power
world wide with numerous wholesales and manufacturers. These relationships allows
us to supplement our inventory with over 140,000 additional model railroad items
though our website,
all available to procure the next business day if needed. In most cases, we opt
to keep prices lower and use the 3 day (Covid delays now stretch this to 5 to 7
days) ground shipping option from our
wholesalers and manufacturers to

store .
This allows us to
be more efficient and offer our customers outstanding fill rates and low prices
without the burden of huge inventories. We make every attempt to alleviate
"out of stock" situations
and incorrect information on our website. This means that the chances are
excellent that
Blue Ridge Hobbies™
will be able to complete
your order and ship 100% of your merchandise in the allotted processing time.
This also helps us keep our prices down.
All products sold

Blue Ridge Hobbies™
are new,
with full manufacturer warranty, unless otherwise noted in the item description

Remember, there
really isn't a need to call us and ask if a certain item is in stock when we can
usually get it for you in one, two or three business days.
If an item will be out of
stock you will be notified via email or phone or at the bottom of your
receipt. Also, you can use the shopping cart comment box to advise BRH how you want

complete your order in the event of a back order.
IMPORTANT:
You can have an order shipped at one time if you have back order or advance
reservation items on the order. We call this SHIP AS ONE and all you have to do
is use this term in the Comment Box when ordering.
Also, if an item is temporarily sold out or, for example, you order 10 and only
8 might be available, just note in the Comment Box BACK ORDERS OK. If this is not
done then the shortage will not automatically back ordered.
All products are
ordered from the wholesaler or manufacturer and it is up to the manufacturers
and wholesaler to fill the order. If the wholesalers and manufacturers do not
fill the order after the order is placed it is not the fault of Blue Ridge
Hobbies if the do not product the product or do not produce enough product for a
pre order / back order / advance reservation, even if you place the advance
reservation prior to the advance reservation deadline.
ORDERING
SCHEDULE:

Due to changes in the shipping schedules and arriving times of product coming to
BRH from the USPS UPS and Fedex.
The following schedule may help you:
Currently it is talking 5 to 8 days for
transmitted to the warehouses and manufactures order to arrive at BRH for
shipping to you. That is up from just 3 days pre Covid. The wholesalers and
manufacturers are processing the orders the same day,
the delay is in the USPS, UPS and Fedex systems.
At this point the plan is to ship Monday, Tuesday and
Thursday until ordering volume increases and
shipping infrastructure changes back to pre Covid . We will change
ordering from the wholesalers and manufacturers to
match as needed.
So, orders received from Friday 6am until Monday 6am
will be ordered as needed from the wholesalers and
manufacturers at 6am Monday. Items should arrive late
Saturday based on current inbound shipping schedules
from UPS, Fedex and USPS and should ship on Monday.
Orders received from Monday 6am until Wednesday 6am will
be ordered as needed from the wholesalers and
manufacturers at 6am Wednesday. Items should arrive late
Monday based on current inbound shipping schedules from
UPS, Fedex and USPS and should ship on the following
Tuesday.
Orders received from Wednesday 6am until Friday 6am will
be ordered as needed from the wholesalers and
manufacturers at 6am Friday. Items should arrive late
Wednesday based on current inbound shipping schedules from
UPS, Fedex and USPS and should ship on the following
Thursday.
Since our website is not a live inventory of products, you can check our main
wholesalers websites (Walthers.com for about 95% of orders) for
product availability. Items from these wholesalers reach
Blue Ridge Hobbies®
usually within two to three business days.
During the holiday season from November until around January 15th an
additional day or two may need to be added to the shipping time from BRH to you.
This is due to delays in product coming to BRH for shipping to you.
Orders and/or
add-ons to orders will not be accepted via email or voicemail. A new order or
add-on must be placed via the shopping cart or by calling 864-255-4671 during
normal business hours. Also, check the holiday schedule for more info on days
the retail store and shipping department will be closed

Telephone Orders:
Effective 06/01/10 and updated 03/04/11 all phone orders or order additions to shopping cart / online
orders will require a 5% fee of the total order. This is being done due to the
extended time that phone orders take. In most cases, customers have already
looked at our website and just have not finalized the online orders.

To get sale pricing, your order must be placed via our online shopping cart.
On Sale Pricing:

There is a pass through fee from the USPS and Fedex for this

Effective 02/21/21:
We will no
longer be automatically back ordering items. If you order 10 for
example and we are only able to ship 5, then the other 5 would be
automatically canceled and not back ordered. You would have to
reorder them at a later date when they are in stock. If you are
ordering and item that, at the time of order, is listed as an
Advance Reservation, the item will be ordered as an Advance
Reservation and a deposit of 20% of that items total will be
charged.
Ship As One is no longer an option. No more holding orders for
shipment. All orders will be shipped as they arrive. All orders in
the hold bins designated as SHIP AS ONE have been shipped as of
03/09/21

Special Order items can not be cancelled. Pending Arrival Items
(items on their way from the manufacturer or wholesalers) to Blue
Ridge Hobbies™ or Pending Shipping To You Items can not be cancelled
without a 20% restock fee.

All orders must be picked up within 7 days from receipt at

After 7 days the merchandise will be charged to your credit card
and shipped to you at your cost if not picked up by the 8th day.
Defective merchandise must be returned to manufacturer no exceptions,
including in store purchases.
No Returns or Exchanges on electrical equipment and parts including but not
limited to Motive Power, DCC Equipment, Power Supplies, Switches and Electrical
Turnouts.

Our base discount is an automatic
20% or more off most manufacturer's suggested retail pricing. Some discounts are higher
and some are lower. We beat Walthers pricing as well as pricing for most of our
internet competition. Some items have deep discounts
from our ON SALE, WEEKLY SALE and other SALES that are run each week. Our regular prices are
lower then most other online and retail locations around the world with many
specially priced items lower than others sale prices! We do check our pricing
all the time and compare it to our competition.

Surcharges from the manufacturers and
wholesalers continue to occur.
Lionel and Rapido have a "temporary" 5% surcharge on all
newer items as we announced last week. These surcharges
are now being passed along to our customers as the
surcharges are not part of the BRH pricing. Also, the
Milwaukee Warehouse is now passing along special
shipping charges on "oversized" item like grass mats.
Again this cost will have to be passed along to our
customers as needed.
Lionel items with the surcharge are noted as such in the
product description. Rapido only lets BRH now when we
get the shipping invoice! And with the oversized
additional shipping charge you should just assume that
things let grass mats, flex track, cork, train sets etc.
, might have this surcharge. BRH will not now if there
is a oversized surcharge until after the item(s) are
shipped. BRH has no control over that.
Keep sizes of products in mind when you order. BRH does
its best to keep shipments down to the minimum number of
shipping boxes.
So, for example, do not order flex
track and then a building because there are no boxes
conducive to shipping these items in one box!
If you have an issue with a
possible surcharge on an advance reservation or back
order, please contact BRH by phone during our normal
business hours so we can cancel your order!

Effective 07/27/20 - Orders that do not meet minimum order
requirements due to the answer to the question Back Orders Okay?
being answered NO, which then allows the order to incorrectly process to
avoid the minimum order amount total allowing the order to bypass
the terms of $50.00 order minimum per our store policy. Effective immediately the back ordered / advance
reservation are considered removed from the order. If the order then
does not meet the $50.00 minimum order requirement per store
policy, the order will then be canceled.
Effective 05/01/20:
The retail store will no longer be open to walk up customers do to the
high volume of internet sales and related operations that are 99% of Blue
Ridge Hobbies operations. While we value our local customers and out of town
visitors to the store, under the current operating conditions due to the
situations that have arisen from Convid-19, the retail store will only be
open to the public via the Schedule To Visit times only effective
immediately. Visitation reservation are available Monday through Saturday
from 11am until 4pm. There is a non refundable $30.00 fee that can be applied
to in store purchases.
The time and date selected are for a maximum 30 minute window or any part of
the 30 minutes and will be
confirmed via email or phone call.
You can set up and appointment to shop the
available stock of the retail or to place an in person order or to just come
in and discuss model railroading.
If you miss the visitation time window, the fee is non refundable.
Requests for a visit must be placed via our
on line shopping cart only. 24 Hour notice is required. Phone calls for reservations are not accepted:

Blue Ridge Hobbies strives to offer excellent customer
service. But, unfortunately potential customers have
been taking advantage of helpful and friendly service.
Some questions asked of our staff are very easy and
quick to answer, but as we continue to strive to offer
helpful information to our phone, email and in store customers,
We have found that customers basically are wanting us to
do research for them so that they can purchase somewhere
else. Unfortunately we have had many customers in store,
via phone and via email take advantage of our good
nature in trying to help the model railroading community.
We can no longer afford to take this time to offer
'free' research and advice.
Since Blue Ridge Hobbies is an internet business with
98% of its sales coming from online orders, taking time
to answer questions has been taking its toll on
processing orders for our 'paying' customers. We can no
longer offer 'free' advice or spend long periods of time
with non revenue generating customers.Need help with
your model railroading? We will answer quick and easy
questions as time allows. More involved questions will
require a fee to answer and may require calls to the
manufacturers of technical support if we do not know the
answer.
We have found that most questions posed to us have the
answer readily available if the customer would just take
the time to do some research on their own. We can now
longer do this for free. Either the customer should buy
a product (minimum order apply see policy page for more
information).
As of 07/24/20 We will no longer be able to help
diagnosis or repair or appraise model railroad items.
All other help will be charged at $30.00 per 30 minute
block of time or any part of that 30 minute block, paid up front.
If you purchase product from us then we will credit any
question/help fees to your order for same day questions
and purchases.

Foreign Transaction Charge:
A Foreign Transaction Fee is a surcharge that is charged on your
credit card bill if you use your card to make a purchase in a
currency that is not your domestic currency or a transaction
that passes through a foreign bank. This fee is partly charged
by your payment networks like Visa or MasterCard and partly by
your credit card provider. This fee is partly charged by your

Whenever you buy something abroad (or at home)
with your debit/credit card, four parties are involved: You,
your bank, the retailer/merchant you bought your stuff from and
their bank. The two banks perform a series of steps to ensure
your payment is processed and transferred securely, and it
reaches the retailer promptly. When your bank sends your payment
to the retailer’s bank (known as the acquiring bank), a
small fee is retained (in Canada's case the fee averages out to
be 12.5% from our past experience). This is called the
interchange fee. Similarly, when the retailer’s bank sends the
payment to the retailer, it deducts a small fee – this is called
the Merchant Service Charge and incorporates a number of
component fees such as the interchange fee, costs to cover
services provided by their bank. This rate is negotiated
directly between the retailer and its bank. All these charges
are passed on to the customer which is “You”.
You end up paying extra for your purchases or the
services.
There are basically two types of charges involved:
1. Foreign Currency Conversion fee – The fee that Visa and
Mastercard charge you because your card is Canadian and your
Card balance reflects in Canadian Currency and when you use it
abroad, you pay it in the currency of the country you are in.
The conversion happens from INR to that currency and Visa and
MasterCard automatically charge a fee on foreign currency
exchange and anything in excess of it is generally a small
margin of profit for the bank.
2. Foreign Transaction Charge- Charge that your Debit/Credit
card provider puts on you for carrying out a transaction in
foreign currency. Your Debit/Credit card is designed to work
only in the currency of the country it has been issued in or
domestically but when you go abroad and use the card to either
shop or withdraw cash, your bank will charge you for that

customers outside the United States, will be shipped 30 days after you order is
received for processing. Initially, your credit card will be charged the full
cost of your shippable order. Shipping is charged to your card at time the order

using the same credit card will be processed within 3 to 4 business days.

HANDLING FEES:
Minimum fee per shipment $2.00* effective with order placed from 03/04/11 on

Standard: via USPS are shipped via weight. Insurance
is added nominal fee and at the shippers discretion. No other additional
shipping costs are added on. You can choose no insurance based on the response

PLEASE NOTE: all orders are shipped by weight and your shipping cost
will reflect that cost. Please contact us for more details. The
average cost of 1lb shipping via USPS Priority Mail is about $10.40 (including
insurance and delivery confirmation). Small items that can
be shipped using padded envelopes, such as Kadee coupler products, will reduce
the overall cost. Estimates for your specific shipping and handling cost can
not be determined prior to shipping.
Also, if you ship to a business (commercial) address and the lower cost shipping is via
UPS or Fedex, you can save an estimated $2.00 per shipping!

11/27/07 To Protect you purchase during shipping, due to problems related to USPS delivery problems and lost packages,
All packages sent via USPS will require Delivery Confirmation and
Insurance. Fedex shipments are not effected in this manner.
Effective
09/09/22 Due to additional costs that Fedex adds to packages shipped via
Fedex Shipmanager by adding fees after the price is quoted via Shipmanager
via our statement from BRH. Unfortunately if this occurs, which is a
rare occurrence, BRH will have to recoup these additional charges, that are
unknown until we receive our statement from Fedex, for you, our customer. So
an additional charge will occur if this situation arises. Copy our statement
can be forwarded to you as proof upon your email request for this
information.
BRH apologizes for this situation but it is beyond our control.
To avoid this potential situation, pick USPS only as your shipping option.
However, sometimes with large packages, even with these fees that
Fedex charges after the fact, it still may be cheaper to ship via Fedex
Ground than with USPS which is usually much higher than Fedex Ground.
BRH does its best to keep our prices for product low. We have no control of
the cost of shipping. Shipping is a pass through cost to you, our customers.

You should have the receipt number you received and provide a clear and
concise explanation of the disputel.
Disputes can be resolved immediately and others may take up to 60
days from the date we receive notification of the dispute. Disputes
must be received no later than 30 days from the date of the original receipt
date.
Disputes needing research can only be researched on Fridays during
our normal retail schedule. The reason for this is that some
disputes require the 'pulling' of old or original hard copies of
your order /
invoice / shipping paperwork that may have already been sent to the
office for storage.
You will receive a DRN (Dispute Resolution Number) that you can
refer to when contacting Blue Ridge Hobbies for status of the
dispute.
Again, 'entangled' disputes may take sometime, up to 60 days. to
research and resolve after you receive DRN number. If you have a DRN
number, the dispute is not being processed. You must speak with a
BRH representative to receive the Dispute Resolution Number (DRN)

product that was
damaged in

issue a call tag at our (shipper) end. USPS or FEDEX will then pick up the
shipping materials, the damaged model and the box from your address. This
institutes the claim settlement. We will ensure that all corrective action is
performed as quickly as possible.
Defective items not damaged during shipment can
be returned for exchange to
Blue Ridge Hobbies™
for replacement at shippers expense but that is not recommended.
We due require that all damage returns be sent to the
appropriate manufacturer or wholesaler as it is their responsibility to repair
or replace the item or item(s) within 14 days of receipt.

not cover any shipping costs due to our low price points for any returns as
defective. It is not industry standard that the manufacturer or

Defective merchandise must be returned to the manufacturer. No Returns or

no longer accept American Express) . Check and money orders are no longer

In store purchases methods of payment are Cash,

If the check is returned for Non Sufficient Funds
(NSF), Account Closed, Stopped Payment or Unable To Locate, prior to shipping,
there is a $50.00 return check for (which our bank changes us), unfortunately,
we must pass this fee to you before shipping. We will contact you via email,
phone and/or mail to advise you of your options.
Return checks will be collected to the full
