Minimum Order is $00.00 effective 07/19/12 including phone orders outside of 100 mile radius of Blue Ridge Hobbies™ retail store. Effective 07/27/13 - Orders under $50.00 will have a mandatory $3.00 service fee to cover credit card processing fees.
When ordering your choice from Blue Ridge Hobbies™ , you are receiving the lowest price at the time you order an item. Products are subject to availability and are usually shipped to you in 2 to 3 business days (sometimes longer depending upon time of year such as the Christmas Holidays or weather related issues) from when your order date (unless otherwise noted on order status page, email or phone call you may receive) most times orders are shipped within 2 to 3 business days and within 1 business day shipping on in stock** items shipped next business day.
All prices are subject to change until paid for in full and some quantities may be limited by the manufacturer or supplier.
All availability is subject to change due to system updating which is done after 8am each day. We do our best to keep the inventory updated throughout each day to provide our customers with the best in stock information possible. 100% accuracy of information is not guaranteed. Our customers are amazed at our great fill rates. With our ability to complete your order as fully as we can within 2 to 3 business days stems from our total commitment to providing our customers the best possible rate of fill during the processing of your transaction. No one at Blue Ridge Hobbies™ likes "out of stock" situations or incorrect information on our website. We do our best to prevent these situations with 4 major wholesalers located around the USA. Also, where applicable, we work directly with manufacturers to offer the lowest possible prices!
To assume that any dealer or hobby store carries everything in stock at all times would not be a realistic expectation. We do have a rather large inventory of items to support our customer's needs but it is very important that you understand, to keep our prices as low as possible we have adopted a completely different business model than our competitors.
Blue Ridge Hobbies™ has a large buying power world wide with numerous wholesales and manufacturers. These relationships allows us to supplement our inventory with over 140,000 additional model railroad items though our website, all available to procure the next business day if needed. In most cases, we opt to keep prices lower and use the 3 day ground shipping option from our wholesalers and manufacturers to Blue Ridge Hobbies™ store.
This allows us to be more efficient and offer our customers outstanding fill rates and low prices without the burden of huge inventories. We make every attempt to alleviate"out of stock" situations and incorrect information on our website. This means that the chances are excellent that Blue Ridge Hobbies™ will be able to complete your order and ship 100% of your merchandise in the allotted processing time. This also helps us keep our prices down.
All products sold by Blue Ridge Hobbies™ are new, with full manufacturer warranty, unless otherwise noted in the item description field.
Remember, there really isn't a need to call us and ask if a certain item is in stock when we can usually get it for you in one, two or three business days. If an item will be out of stock you will be notified via email or phone or at the bottom of your receipt. Also, you can use the shopping cart comment box to advise BRH how you want BRH complete your order in the event of a back order.

Since our website is not a live inventory of products, you can check our main wholesalers websites (Walthers.com for about 95% of orders) for product availability. Items from these wholesalers reach Blue Ridge Hobbies® usually within two to three business days.
Orders and/or add-ons to orders will not be accepted via email or voicemail. A new orders or add-on's must be placed via the shopping cart or by calling 800-988-2125 during normal business hours. Telephone Orders:
Effective 06/01/10 and updated 03/04/11 all phone orders or order additions to shopping cart / online orders will require a 5% fee of the total order. This is being done due to the extended time that phone orders take. In most cases, customers have already looked at our website and just have not finalized the online orders.
**** We no longer will be able to honor online sale prices for telephone orders. To get sale pricing, your order must be placed via our online shopping cart.
On Sale Pricing:
Effective 06/01/10 we will no longer adjust any pricing differences in retail store between on line sale pricing vs. in retail store prices. **** If you would like a product based on the on line sale price, it must be ordered on line via our shopping cart. In the event that pricing at Walthers.com is lower then the prices currently available via our shopping cart, you will, at minimum, get the Walthers.com pricing. Please note the price difference you are looking for in the comment box with a note preceded by *********** and then your comment.

Minimum Order Quantity |
In the item description field it is noted what the minimum order number/amount is for this particular product. If you order 1 when the minimum order is 6, your order will be changed to a quantity of 6. If it is minimum order of 12 and your order 1, your order will be changed to a quantity of 12. And so on. This is done because many items we sell, such as scale lumber, come in packs of 25 or 50 and these packs can not be broken and shipped or sold in smaller quantities. First Time Customer Orders

First time customer orders are charged for merchandise only prior to shipping. At time of shipping then any fees and shipping will be added.
We can not ship first time orders to an secondary or alternate address. All merchandise must be shipped to your credit card billing address for the first order. Future orders using the same credit card can be shipped to a secondary or alternate address.

Items not in stock will only be back ordered at a customer's request. This must be done in the COMMENT BOX during your order check out. There are times when the wholesaler, manufacturer or the retail store indicate that an item may be available or that an item was available but not in the quantity to completely fill and order (SEE ORDERING), a customer must authorize the back order using the COMMENT BOX for this authorization. If this is not done, the order will be shipped with the quantity available at the time of shipping. NO back order will be processed. You will be notified via email when a shortage occurs.
Back ordered items for residents in the Continental USA will be shipped as per the shipping and handling information below.
Blue Ridge Hobbies™ will require a 20% deposit on some back ordered items and advance reservations and specialty orders. This will be charged at time of order. Item / Product Price is subject to change by manufacturer and/ or wholesaler and is beyond our control. You must keep your credit card up to date at all times. Shipping and handling charges are extra and will be charged at time of shipping. Long wait times can be expected for the product to arrive. Blue Ridge Hobbies™ has no control over when the products will arrive.
Deposits will be refunded as store credit only if the advance reservation / back order is canceled by the customer by telephone phone and speaking with a Blue Ridge Hobbies customer service representative and by receiving an order cancellation number. Email and voice mail cancellations are not excepted at anytime.
Back Orders and special orders prior to 04/01/15 6am EDT - orders will be shipped when received after full payment which includes shipping and any miscellaneous fees that may be applicable is received.

Back Orders and special orders prior to 04/01/15 6am EDT are assumed authorized by customers unless otherwise noted in the comment box and/or back order field on the shopping cart credit card input page. We can not call or email you back regarding status of potential back order item(s). This information is available via the product search page. You can note in the comment field on the shopping cart and potential replacements for a potential out of stock item.
Back Orders and special orders prior to 04/01/15 6am EDT items may be shipped in combination with future orders or as an individual shipment. New shipping and handling charges may apply. ALL special order items will require 20% deposit via credit card or cash.
All orders must be picked up within 7 days from receipt at Blue Ridge Hobbies™ and your phone and/or email notification. After 7 days the merchandise will be charged to your credit card and shipped to you if not picked up by the 8th day.

Blue Ridge Hobbies strives to offer excellent customer service. But, unfortunately potential customers have been taking advantage of helpful and friendly service. Some questions asked of our staff are very easy and quick to answer, but as we continue to strive to offer helpful information to our phone, email and in store customers, We have found that customers basically are wanting us to do research for them so that they can purchase somewhere else. Unfortunately we have had many customers in store, via phone and via email take advantage of our good nature in trying to help the model railroading community. We can no longer afford to take this time to offer 'free' research and advice.
Since Blue Ridge Hobbies is an internet business with 98% of its sales coming from online orders, taking time to answer questions has been taking its toll on processing orders for our 'paying' customers. We can no longer offer 'free' advice or spend long periods of time with non revenue generating customers.
Need help with your model railroading? We will answer quick and easy questions as time allows. More involved questions will require a fee to answer and may require calls to the manufacturers of technical support if we do not know the answer.
We have found that most questions posed to us have the answer readily available if the customer would just take the time to do some research on their own. We can now longer do this for free. Either the customer should buy a product (minimum order apply see policy page for more information).
As of 12/26/17 help with diagnosing model railroad problems with product including but not limited to locomotive, rolling stock, power supply or other model railroading equipment questions will have a minimum $5.00 cash or $6.00 credit card fee charged in advance of the advice.
All other help will be charged at $12.50 per 15 minute block of time, paid up front.
If you purchase product from us then we will credit any question/help fees to your order for same day questions and purchases.

Estimated Shipping and Handling: Shipping charges for services are exact cost and will not be quoted or estimated prior to order confirmation. We shipped via the lowest cost shipper based on your location and shopping cart question responses. The shipping cost is the shipping cost! We have no control over the prices!
CONTINENTAL US Most domestic orders are shipped US Postal Service First Class Mail for packages under 14oz starting at about $5.40 per package. All packages are shipped by weight and we ship via the lowest cost carrier is used in all cases to save you money. We do not quote shipping rates in advance. If you want to lowest cost shipping choose the CHEAPEST option for shipping when you are checking out.
United States Postal Service (USPS) and Fedex shipping is also available upon request. Bulky, heavy and high value items may be shipped exact charge via US Postal Service or Federal Express (Fedex).
Please provide a street address for these FEDEX deliveries. Shipping charges for these services are exact cost. Expedited services are available at actual costs.

ALASKA AND HAWAII: Orders may be shipped United States Postal Service or FEDEX. Shipping charges for these services are exact cost and will be quoted prior to order confirmation.
INTERNATIONAL: Orders may be shipped United States Postal Service or FEDEX. USPS is usually the lowest cost. Shipping charges for these services are exact cost. Your credit card will be charged at the time of your order for the cost of the items purchased less cost of shipping. There is a 30 day hold on all international orders. Then the day it is scheduled to ship, shipping and handling charges will be processed to your order completing the order. See below for overall processing time. This is done to prevent credit card fraud.
Requests to have the declared value to be less than the actual value of the package or shipped as a gift, will not be honored. Standard parcel post air to ground: (Please allow 4-12 weeks delivery time) Minimum $3.00 handling fee plus actual cost of shipping (you can estimate your shipping cost as 20% on orders less than $150 and 15% on orders over $150 before discounts). Tariffs and other fees may apply and be charged to your credit card after you receive your order. Blue Ridge Hobbies™ does not have any control nor do we know in advance of the shipping of product to you, what the cost will be. In some cases, there is no additional fee or tariff charged by the country you are shipping to.
Air Mail: Minimum $3.00 handling fee plus actual cost of shipping
Please use your credit card to expedite processing of your order. Hazardous materials, such as alcohol based-paints, solvents, resins, and paint removers cannot be shipped outside of the United States.
New Customers (please note): For your protection, we can only ship to your credit card billing address. After 90 days, you will be able to ship packages to an alternate location. We apologize for any inconvenience.
HANDLING FEES: Minimum fee per shipment $2.00* effective with order placed from 03/04/11 on all new orders. SHIPPING FEES: Shipping cost is the actual cost of shipping. No additional fees or charges are added to shipping costs.
- General Shipping Costs (in most cases):
Standard: via USPS are shipped via weight. Insurance is added nominal fee and at the shippers discretion. No other additional shipping costs are added on. You can choose no insurance based on the response to the questions on the shopping cart order. You must note your choice of no insurance in the comment field. PLEASE NOTE: all orders are shipped by weight and your shipping cost will reflect that cost. Please contact us for more details. The average cost of 1lb shipping via USPS Priority Mail is about $7.40 (including insurance and delivery confirmation). Small items that can be shipped using padded envelopes, such as Kadee coupler products, will reduce the overall cost. Estimates for your specific shipping and handling cost can not be determined prior to shipping.
Also, if you ship to a business (commercial) address and the lower cost shipping is via UPS or Fedex, you can save an estimated $2.00 per shipping!
Effective 11/27/07 To Protect you purchase during shipping, due to problems related to USPS delivery problems and lost packages, All packages sent via USPS will require Delivery Confirmation and Insurance. Fedex shipments are not effected in this manner.

- Most orders ship within the next business day after receipt for our suppliers unless the items is in stock. In stock in store items ordered by 3pm EST are shipped next business day.

Within 1 business day shipping on in stock items shipped next business day. Most orders are shipped to you within 3 business days from your order date.

Reimbursement for lost shipments: Due to increased postal delays, Blue Ridge Hobbies™ will reimburse you for any loss ONLY AFTER we have been reimbursed by the USPS or OTHER CARRIER. In some cases, this may take up to one year or more. REQUESTS FOR REIMBURSEMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF SHIPMENT TO YOU.
Insurance Liability Coverage: United States Postal Service (surface or air): A maximum of $600.00 per shipped carton. Insurance is added to most orders for a nominal fee when shipped via USPS.
FEDEX has a maximum of declared invoiced value per shipment.

- Items may be held for 7 days after voice confirmation via voice mail or direct contact with the customer for items received by or in stock at Blue Ridge Hobbies® the may be shipped to or held at our retail store without further notification to the recipient on the 8th day. Non-local customers living within the 50 Contiguous United States:
- Items may be held for 5 days after voice confirmation via voice mail or direct contact with the customer for items received by or in stock at Blue Ridge Hobbies® the may be shipped to or held at our retail store without further notification to the recipient on the 8th day. Orders and/or items will be charged to your credit card on file after the 6th day.
Holds may not be extended beyond specified days listed above. Please provide a phone number and credit card number with the expiration date unless special arrangements have been made with customers service via telephone call to 864-255-4671 during our normal business hours.

South Carolina residents or South Carolina credit card billing address' or in store purchases regardless of your address will be charged the appropriate sales tax.
Mail orders taken by phone, fax or e-mail for delivery outside of South Carolina will not be taxed.

In the event a customer receives a model that was damaged in shipment by USPS or FEDEX, please follow the following procedures:
- 1.) Notify Blue Ridge Hobbies™ by calling during our normal business hours and the USPS or FEDEX shipping receiver office.
- 2.) Make sure you have the USPS or FEDEX shipper or tracking number.
- 3.) Retain all shipping materials (carton, packing materials, etc.)
USPS or FEDEX will notify Blue Ridge Hobbies™ to issue a call tag at our (shipper) end. USPS or FEDEX will then pick up the shipping materials, the damaged model and the box from your address. This institutes the claim settlement. We will ensure that all corrective action is performed as quickly as possible.
Defective items not damaged during shipment can be returned for exchange to Blue Ridge Hobbies™ for replacement at shippers expense but is not recommended. We due require that all returns be sent to the appropriate manufacturer or wholesaler as it is their responsibility to repair or replace the item or item(s).
Blue Ridge Hobbies™ will not cover any shipping costs due to our low price points for any returns as defective. It is not industry standard that the manufacturer or wholesaler, or even the seller of the merchandise, cover return shipping.

Returns and Order Cancellations

The following shipping information only applies to orders placed directly with Blue Ridge Hobbies™.

Items sold by Blue Ridge Hobbies™ are warranted by the manufacturers to be as advertised and to be satisfactory to YOU. Any item you find to be unsatisfactory should be returned directly to the manufacturer for credit or refund or replacement. Not returned to Blue Ridge Hobbies™.
Defective merchandise must be returned to the manufacturer. No returns or exchanges on electrical parts or equipment including but not limited to Motive Power, DCC Equipment, Power Supplies, Lighting and Power Routing Electrical Switches.
There are some exclusions to our return policy including, but not limited to, opened software, discontinued items, and some manufacturers that require their items to be returned directly to them.
EFFECTIVE 9/14/08: It is your responsibility to see that the manufacturer receives the merchandise in the original package, in saleable condition (unless defective when you receive it). You may return items up to 30 days after purchase (the date on your receipt). Please include a copy of your invoice/packing list/receipt. NO EXCEPTIONS
PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to cancel any back ordered item, contact Customer Service please call us immediately during our normal business hours regarding this item. Please call 864-255-4671. Emails are not accepted for back order cancellations.
RETURNS Processing will be expedited by doing the following:
Some items may be returned to Blue Ridge Hobbies™ up to 30 days after purchase. Please phone our customer service desk during our normal business hours , to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number (1-864-255-4671). You will need to provide your customer number or order number or receipt number or invoice number and the stock number of the item(s) to be returned and the reason for the return.
Include a letter of instruction in the package advising if you are requesting credit or exchange. Write your Return Authorization number on the outside of the shipping carton.
Pack carefully. We are not responsible for damage during the return shipment. We suggest that you insure your return package to us if it has a high-dollar value.

1. A 20% RESTOCK FEE on your order error.
2. A 50% restock fee will be applied to returns and order cancellations*** which do not meet the above criteria.
3. Returns on special orders, advance reservations or returns to manufacturer or wholesaler (not for replacement of product but for refund). Blue Ridge Hobbies™ return policy per either line 1 or 2 plus any manufacturer or wholesaler fee or charges for returns
4. 100% refund on Blue Ridge Hobbies™error.
5. Items returned without RMA number will not be processed for refund or exchange.
6. Returns can take up to 90 days to process through Blue Ridge Hobbies™ and will be for store credit only effective June 1, 2009.
7. Order cancellations must be done verbally by the originator of the order (the person on the order), during our normal business hours. No emails or voice mails will be accepted effective April 12, 2012.
8. Items canceled that will be charged the restock fee include items already received by Blue Ridge Hobbies™, Blue Ridge Hobbies™ shipped to or in the process of being shipped to Blue Ridge Hobbies® but not yet received for a supplier, manufacturer or other source, hold bin items not yet paid for, shipping fees for product from the supplier, manufacturer or other source effective April 12, 2012.

Check or Money Order and Other Payment Methods

Online shopping cart orders and phone orders must be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard and Discover effective 01/01/10 we no longer accept American Express) . Check and money orders are no longer accepted for payment for shopping cart orders. Wire Transfers are not accepted.
In store purchases methods of payment are Cash, credit cards Visa, Mastercard and Discover effective 01/01/10 we no longer accept American Express and checks
If the check is returned for Non Sufficient Funds (NSF), Account Closed, Stopped Payment or Unable To Locate, prior to shipping, there is a $50.00 return check for (which our bank changes us), unfortunately, we must pass this fee to you before shipping. We will contact you via email, phone and/or mail to advise you of your options.
Return checks will be collected to the full extent of the law and will be prosecuted if not paid.
Please make sure you have the funds available in to avoid these fees!
